“Leonard and Sheldon are two brilliant scientists who, however, have their problems with the “”normal”” life. Especially Sheldon suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and lack of social skills. Together with their friends Howard and Rajesh, the two roommates, however, have built their own little cosmos.

Sheldon Cooper, Ph.D. (Jim Parsons) originally from East Texas, already attended college at age 11, just after he has completed the 5th grade. He is a theoretical physicist, providing cause for many discussions with his roommate Leonard. He has two doctorates and an IQ of 189. Sheldon is showing clear signs of Savant syndrome. He insists on strict adherence to ritual acts and even minimal deviations from his habits ensure angry discussions.
Howard Wolowitz, M.Eng. (Simon Helberg) is an engineer for Space Technology, still lives with his mother and contrary to his self-perception as a heartthrob its rapprochement attempts are usually marked by failure. Unlike his friends, he does not have a doctoral degree, which repeatedly has cause for mockery.
Rajnesh Koothrappali, Ph. D. (Kunal Nayyar) is Astro-Physics. He has the neurosis that he can not speak in the presence of women. This social disability, he can overcome only by the consumption of alcohol.
Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) is the attractive blonde lives over in the hallway. She dreams of a career as an actor, but has to pay the bills working as a waitress. She makes friends with the neighbor-WG and the love relationship between Leonard and her forms one of the main strands of the plot.
Leslie Winkle, Ph.D. (Sara Gilbert) is also a scientist and is the only female alternative to the four friends. She has both Leonard and Howard brief affairs, but fail because of their cold-heartedness.”
